What is spiritual direction?
Simply put, spiritual direction is an effort to help the directee deepen their relationship with Christ. The Director’s role is to reflect the light of Christ in the directee. The Holy Spirit really does all the work.
The Method
The contemplative-evocative method in spiritual direction focuses on deep listening and exploring what is heard to help directee’s discern God's will and grow spiritually. It emphasizes attentive listening and questioning rather than instructing, allowing the directee to discover what the Spirit may be revealing to them. This method is rooted in Ignatian spirituality and aims to help individuals deepen their relationship with God.
Christ desires relationship with us. As the psalmist in Psalm 139 writes, ‘Lord you know me’. In this method I will use of Reflection, Evocation, Conjecture, Validation and other deepening techniques to help facilitate an opening of your heart, mind and soul to the presence of Christ within us, His love for us, and His plan for us.
About Jim
Jim has been blessed to receive Spiritual Direction for over twenty years from some of his favorite members of the clergy. In the fall of 2025 Jim received a Certificate in Spiritual Direction from Divine Mercy University in Washington D.C.
Jim has held leadership roles in several non-profits and has worked for over twenty-five years within faith-based organizations, policy organizations and educational institutions in the areas of strategy, operations and fund raising. He is currently the Executive Vice President at the Georgia Center for Opportunity.
Prior to entering the non-profit world Jim had a successful career in the financial services technology industry. After starting his career with eight years of corporate experience he moved on to found and run several successful fintech firms.
Jim has been married to his best friend Tammy for over thirty years. Together they have four sons, a dog, a cat, a mortgage and all that goes with it.
